STATE STREET TOWNHOUSES Brooklyn, New York
The 14 Townhouses at State Street is the first phase of 23 new single-family townhouses on a single historic block in Brooklyn. A row of five Italianate historic townhouses are at the middle of the development block and an uninterrupted row of Greek Revival townhouses lines the opposite side of the street. All existing houses are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The new townhouses represent a unique opportunity to build a modern interpretation of the classic townhouse form, extending across an entire blockfront. The street wall establishes a unified aesthetic, taking design queues and regulating lines from the historic buildings while using subtle and distinctive design cues to designate individual homes. Variations in material, facade planes, assembly details, openings, and entries provide an undulating composition for the street that tie to the established historic fabric.
